A good tasting not too hot of a hot sauce. I first tried this on a grilled hamburger off a fishing boat… lemme tell ya chile guys and gals…. this stuff makes the perfect compliment to scrambled eggs! You definetly need to try it.
I really enjoy the green. I have some of the red, and it seems to be slightly hotter, but the green has just the right flavor for me and a balanced heat. I am disappointed when I can’t find it in Mexican restaurants, often only finding the vinegary, mild tasting Tapatio instead. Hey Mexican restaurant owners! Listen up, get the good ElYucateco Green!
Before trying El Yucateco green sauce, my only experience in hot sauces was regular Tabasco. This sauce offers a fair amount of heat without the overpowering vinegar taste. Since I’m pretty inexperienced, I’m surprised that it is rated at a 9 for heat level. El Yucateco themself only claims it has ~8,900 scovilles. It gives a nice kick, but I’ve had hotter.
This is a wonderful sauce. Good freash taste with a fair amount of heat. You will go though a bottle quickly if your a real chilli head. I use about 2 tbs per 12oz of salsa. You will really enjoy this without breaking the bank. Great for mexican dishes, rice, salsa, eggs, etc. I give this product a 6 out of 10. Rest easy, it’s not likely to give you puckered pooper in the morning. Only eat after 2:00pm. Cheers, enjoy!
This is the best hot sauce…hands down…the Green also has a better flavor than that of the Red. The red has a smokier flavor…and the green is a more pepper based…Add to you home made salsas…..adds just the right amount of kick!
Regardless of the fact that it has a look and consistency of bile, this is one of the most flavorful hot sauces I have tasted. Good solid pepper taste. Very thick, smooth texture. Well-balanced and not overpowering.
on a hot scale of 1-10, i would give it a 8.5. it is one of the hottest sauces i have tasted that keeps a very good flavor at the same time. as many have noted it does not have any vinegar in it which it awesome. has a nice hot sensation that builds up as well. great on anything and cheap too. highly recommended
Also one of my favorites, but definately not a “9″; maybe a 6 or a 7. I first encountered it in a local Cuban Restaurant, and could only tolerate a drop or two on my black beans. Now I dunk potstickers in the stuff (my favorite use for it) and it is not hot at all. It’s also good for heating up fried rice. It has a really nice habenaro flavor, but it could use a more natural color. The El Yucateco red is much hotter, if you want more bite.
I love habaneros, they have a really excellent flavor but they usually kick my ass. The best thing about this sauce is that the great habanero flavor comes through without quite as much heat as a naked pepper. The heat fades pretty quickly too. Easily one of the best sauces of all time, I’m sure I’ll want it hotter though once I get used to it.
My all time favorite. Most hot sauces are tomato based and after a while they all seem to be so much spicy ketchup. But this green sauce is totally different
The flavor is good, but it’s far too mild to be considered a heat level of level 9. I first encountered it at a local Mexican restaurant, and it took a good amount of this sauce to generate the kind of heat I wanted. And since I have Blair’s After Death Sauce, I can honestly say that this does not belong in the same category as it. But if you want a moderately hot sauce with a good flavor, this is probably one of your better bets. On heat, I’d give it a 7, or maybe a low 8 at the most, but the flavor is 3.5 stars out of 4.
This sauce is special because of its unique flavor and “just right” spiciness. It adds flavor to just about any meal without adding that sometimes too “vinegary” flavor too many other hot sauces give.
I use this sauce on especially bland foods to substitute for fats and salts. This makes what ever I’m eating — such as plain brown rice — rich and wonderful. I suggest this sauce for anyone that is dieting using fairly flavorless foods. This sauce adds a wonder piquancy that makes them not just tolerable, but enjoyable.
One of the local Mexican restaraunts has this sauce, as well as the El Yucateco red sauce. This is one of the best sauces I have ever tried, and it has a very nice taste without being overly hot. It has a nice heat buildup, as it starts out quite tame but builds to a noticible and pleasant heat level. It’s quite easy to go through half a bottle in one meal.

This is a great hot sauce! The local mexican restaurant has this and the red one. Great pepper flavor with a bite. No vinegear flavor.

This is just bad. Flavor is flat, uninteresting. Move on, there are some really good habaneros sauces out there.

Good sauce, but if wanting to add El Yucateco to the collection, get a hotter one.
fresh tasting, bright, not too sweet. Truly addictive so buy in quantity.

It’s addictive! Better send it off to the lab, must contain something illegal.
